KYW Traffic
A native Philadelphian, Malcolm Poindexter III joined the KYW 24-Hour Traffic Center as a producer and on-air traffic reporter in 2017. He is the son of the late Malcolm Poindexter Jr., who was hired by KYW Newsradio in 1965 as one of its very first reporters. Growing up in and around the newsroom sparked his interest in radio and TV.
Poindexter III’s radio career began at the University of Maryland’s WMUC 88.1, where he was a co-founder/host/DJ spinning golden-era hip-hop on the “Soul Controller Mixshow.” He holds a Bachelor of Arts in English.
Music is his first love. Poindexter (DJM3) has held club DJ residencies in New York and Washington, D.C., and has performed with Run DMC, Public Enemy and Eminem.
Prior to working at KYW, he honed his technical computer skills at Microsoft and Apple, receiving certifications from both companies.
Poindexter is a board member of the Norris Square Neighborhood Project. His father helped organize the Save Our Square Committee in that community. He is a passionate Philly sports fan, who has been an Eagles season ticket-holder for more than 20 years.
