    Sophia Hall

This is a real dream for a girl from a small Ohio city — to work for the greatest news station in the country, WCBS — but it was a little journey for me to get here.

After graduating from Ashland University in Ashland, Ohio, and Columbia College in Chicago, I started my career in Meridian, Mississippi. I was a reporter and anchor at a combination radio/tv station, but I soon learned that newsradio was my true love.

I ventured closer to home, to WPIC in Sharon, Pennsylvania, where I spent over three years. WTAM in Cleveland, Ohio was next, and now this great job as the Long Island reporter for WCBS 880.

In case you can’t tell, I love what I do.

In my free time I like to talk to my family and friends, catch a great movie, or spend long, relaxed afternoons curled up with fashion magazines and a cup of tea.

I live in Suffolk County Long Island with my husband and adopted rescue cat named Golden Girl and I love working at WCBS! I enjoy meeting new people everyday and bringing the news to people across the tri-state area.

Just the Facts about Sophia Hall:

    First joined 880: December 2, 2001

First Story: At the 21 Club, a group of New Yorkers who won the Lottery

Most memorable story: there are two–a little girl who has EB Disease, a terrible skin disorder. And Raphael Carone, a little boy from Long Island, who has won the battle of Leukemia, and does interviews, asking for people to donate blood and bone marrow to help other children.

My dream interviews that will never happen: Princess Diana and Mother Teresa.

Role Model: My mother and anyone who gives of themselves without wanting anything in return

    Hometown: Youngstown, OH

Hobbies: I love working with children at the Cancer Center for Kids at NYU Winthrop Hospital, and with any animal shelter.

    Favorite food: Any Greek Dish.

Favorite Sports Team: Cleveland Indians and NY Yankees

Favorite Destination: Mackinac Island, in Michigan

Favorite Actors: Richard Dean Anderson of the ‘MacGyver’ fame, Teri Hatcher, and Catherine Zeta-Jones.
