PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Laissez les bons temps rouler, Philly! For non-Cajun French speakers, that’s “Let the good times roll,” the unofficial-official slogan of Mardi Gras in New Orleans.

Keep the good times rolling in Philadelphia, where you can attend a virtual Philadelphia Orchestra piano concerto, which has not been performed in nearly 60 years. Or, head to one of five rinks around the city for ice skating with the family.

Whatever you decide to do this weekend, we’ve got you covered. Details below on The KYW To-Do List.

FAMILY-FRIENDLY ACTIVITIES

Take a spin at one of Philadelphia Parks and Recreations’ five ice rinks around the city. You can bring your own skates or pay a few bucks for rentals. Reserve your time slot in advance.

Let the good times roll at Sesame Place’s Mardi Gras Celebration. Head to the theme park on Saturday or Sunday for scavenger hunts, dance parties and more fun for the whole family.

Want to go camping with your pets later this year? Now is the time to book it. Pet-friendly spots at state park campsites and cabins are opening up 11 months in advance. Let your pandemic pups explore the sprawling Ohiopyle State Park, the forest-dense Sizerville State Park or the yurt-boasting Bald Eagle State Park next camping season.

BLACK EXCELLENCE

The Philadelphia Orchestra’s Michelle Cann offers a generous nod to composer Florence Price with a performance of her piano concerto, with ticketed on-demand access all week. This performance marks the first time the piece has been played in North America in its original orchestration since the composer’s death in 1953, and possibly since the mid-1930s.

On Friday — and next Friday as well — check out The Mann Center’s Voices of Hope, a virtual Black History Month celebration exploring the importance of Black artistry and its significance worldwide. Tune in this week for Eric Wortham II, a jazz pianist from Philadelphia who has toured with Adele and Jill Scott.

Alvin Ailey dance classes are coming to a screen near you with Ailey Experience Atlanta. No prior dance experience is required. Classes begin at $30 for two, and panels are free — aspects that expand on Ailey’s lifelong commitment to making dance accessible to everyone.
