PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Whether in-person or virtually, honor the life and service of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. this weekend. Get engaged, give back and continue your education with events at the Museum of the American Revolution, the African American Museum in Philadelphia, and the largest MLK Day of Service event in the nation.

Plus, there's educational mini golf, a jazz fundraiser to save a historic venue, and more on this weekend's KYW To-Do List.

MLK DAY

All weekend long, the Museum of the American Revolution has events, both online and off, to commemorate MLK Day. Take a virtual walking tour, join a free concert by the Philadelphia Jazz Project, and more.

What can we do for others? That's the African American Museum's theme for this year's MLK Weekend Celebration, which includes programming for youth and families, virtual screenings, readings, and tours — all accessible from home.

On Monday, join Uhuru Furniture and the African People's Education and Defense Fund (APEDF) for its annual MLK Day projects and volunteer work to uplift the Black community. Register by Saturday to join the Zoom program and help distribute literature.

Also on Monday, Eastern State Penitentiary commemorates King and his 1963 "Letter from a Birmingham Jail." Join online for readings and a reflection on its relevance today, with special guests sharing music, poetry and art.

During the day, be a part of the largest MLK Day event in the nation: the 26th annual Greater Philadelphia Martin Luther King Day of Service, in partnership with Global Citizen. Volunteer, donate and organize with like-minded people across the tri-state region.

On Monday evening, The Philadelphia Orchestra will present its 31st annual Martin Luther King Jr. Tribute Concert. Celebrate his life and legacy through music and interviews with prominent Philadelphians who are continuing King's work today.

WEEKEND ACTIVITIES

Head to Linvilla Orchard for indoor mini golf — paired with environmental learning — for fun for the whole family. Purchase your tickets online in advance.

Streaming through Saturday is JazzAid, a virtual pay-what-you-wish fundraiser for Chris' Jazz Cafe, the longest continuously operating jazz club in the history of Philadelphia. Help support this 32-year-old institution during the pandemic by bringing some jazz through your speakers.

Skip the slopes and enjoy a beer at the Evil Genius Beer Company's Winterfest on Saturday. Reserve a table for 90 minutes and enjoy live music, burritos and hot cocktails.

Join a guided tour of the Battleship New Jersey, a highly anticipated event both on Friday and the following week. Guests will see and learn about the core components of a battleship: guns, engines and armor from the ship's 50 years of service. Reserve your tickets in advance online.
