Pool: A Social History of Segregation

EVENT: Pool: A Social History of Segregation

WHERE: Fairmount Water Works, 640 Waterworks Drive, Fairmount

DETAILS: “POOL: A Social History of Segregation” is a museum exhibition that tells the story of segregated swimming in America and its connection to present-day drowning issues affecting Black communities. The exhibit weaves together history, art and storytelling to explore the roles of public pools and understand the connection between water, social justice and public health. This is the last opportunity to experience the exhibit in person in Philadelphia.

DETAILS: Dinosaur exhibits aren’t just for kids. Dinos After Dark offers a variety of exhibits and workshops, like “Conversations With Birds,” as well as family-friendly fossil digs and frog crafts. Adults can also purchase drinks and food from the Dino Drafts Beer Garden in Dinosaur Hall.

Paddle the Lakes!

DATE/TIME: Saturday, March 25 from 9 to 11 a.m.

WHERE: FDR Boathouse, 1500 Pattison Ave., South Philadelphia

DETAILS: It’s springtime in Philly, so what better way to celebrate than out in nature. Join a guided kayak tour of the three connected bodies of water — Pattison Lagoon, Edgewood Lake and Hollander Creek — and observe a wide array of wildlife. The two-hour tour departs from the FDR Boathouse and heads south to Hollander Creek, so you can experience a new side of the park and enjoy views of the city skyline.
