You can still visit Santa at the mall — just behind Plexiglas

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Santa Claus is still coming to town, even though this year looks very different from those before it.

Area PREIT malls will host in-person meet-and-greets with Santa this holiday season, but due to COVID-19 restrictions, more safety measures are being added.

“There won’t be any sitting on Santa’s lap, but you are still welcome to get a photo with him, just in a safe way,” said Sarah Frank with Fashion District Philadelphia.

“We will have a plastic shield that divides Santa from our guests. We will have masks and sanitizer on site as well.”

Santa will sit behind Plexiglas, and guests can sit on a bench in front of it. Guests and Santa are allowed to remove their masks for a quick photo.

Other offerings are available, including family and pet photo sessions. One-on-one Zoom calls with Santa are also available.

Registration is required for all types of visits.

Santa will head to the malls as early as Nov. 4. Check your local mall for specific dates.

Along with the Fashion District, nearby participating malls include Exton Square, Plymouth Meeting, Willow Grove Park, and Springfield malls. Cherry Hill, Moorestown and Cumberland malls in New Jersey are also participating.
