A lone green jacket found on a pole has sparked a new Eagles victory parade tradition

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Amy Rannabarger of North Philadelphia is relatively new to Eagles football. A transplant from Dallas, she bleeds green. And, even more so now after she stumbled upon quite a piece of memorabilia at the Super Bowl parade last Friday.

Rannabarger went to the Art Museum to watch the Eagles give their parade speeches. Once those wrapped up and the parade ended, she found a vintage Kelly Green Eagles jacket on a post. She said it was in pristine condition. Now, one would think this jacket belongs to someone and was misplaced. But that is not the case.

While the jacket had a stick of chapstick in one of the pockets, it also had a note from a mystery fan. This anonymous person purposely left the jacket in a random spot in Philadelphia for another fan to find, and not return.

“It’s a one in a million kinda find,” said Rannabarger.

The mystery fan found this cool jacket when the Eagles won Super Bowl LII seven years ago and vouched to release it back into the City of Brotherly Love and Sisterly Affection the next time the Eagles went all the way — with the hopes that the finder, who in this case is Rannabarger, does the same.

She says she intends to. And, maybe with a new spin.

After seeing some comments on her viral post about the jacket, Rannabarger says she might patch the original note into the jacket and, if and when the Eagles win their next Super Bowl, patch her own note into the coat.

And, maybe you’ll see her around town sporting that awesome jacket — which, in essence, is Philadelphia’s jacket — perhaps, though, after she gets it dry-cleaned.

Rannabarger, who lived in Cowboys territory for 31 years, says while her family was big on football, she didn’t get into sports until moving to Philly — a city she’s grown to love.

The Cowboys haven’t advanced past the Divisional Round of the playoffs since 1996. The Eagles – since then – have played in eight NFC Championship games, four Super Bowls and won two Lombardi trophies. Yes, while the Cowboys have five Lombardi trophies in their entire history, Rannabarger is happy her allegiances are to the Eagles.

The person who released the jacket has remained anonymous, despite Rannabarger’s social media post and some news coverage on the subject.
