SOUTH JERSEY (KYW Newsradio) — An altercation on the floor during the Camden County high school boys basketball final has led to the withdrawal of both teams from the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association playoffs, including a team with two of America’s top college basketball recruits.

The incident involved Camden High School, which includes ESPN 100 No. 2 national recruit D.J. Wagner and No. 4 recruit Aaron Bradshaw, who have both committed to the University of Kentucky.

Camden’s superintendent Katrina McCombs says as a result of this, she is withdrawing both teams from the NJSIAA playoffs and the season is over for both teams.

“This initiative is being taken to ensure that our scholar-athletes know that accountability for their actions is paramount not only in basketball but also in the larger game of life,” said McCombs.

“We are not taking away any of the prior successes they have had this year, but we want them to know their actions have consequences.”

Neither team will be able to defend the state titles they won last year. Camden took the Group 2 championship, while Eastside was the champion in Group 3.
