Eagles' DeVonta Smith admits to having massive addiction to Wawa: 'I eat one everyday'

PHILADELPHIA (Audacy) — Life as a pro athlete involves taking care of one's body and watching everything that you consume. Sometimes, like in the case of Eagles wide receiver DeVonta Smith, a beloved Philadelphia-based food still becomes more than a habit.

Former NFL wide receiver Chad Johnson lived and died on a diet that consisted of McDonald's, citing the consumption of Big Macs as "beneficial" to his career.

Smith also has a unique diet. While speaking to the media at Eagles camp Thursday, Smith talked about bulking up for the season and admitting that he's developed a massive addiction to Wawa, mentioning that it's Hoagiefest for him every day.

Smith said his preference at the sandwich chain is for the honey turkey sandwich.

The popular convenience store chain was happy to hear Smith's love of their sandwiches.

The former Heisman Trophy winner didn't have any Wawas growing up in Louisana and playing for the University of Alabama Crimson Tide. However, similar to his new teammate Jordan Davis, when you move to Philly, you learn to love cheesesteaks and hoagies.

In his first season in the league, Smith caught 64 of 104 targets for 916 yards and five touchdowns. We could see those numbers see a sizeable increase his sophomore year now that A.J. Brown is on the opposite side of the field to take away some of the pressure.
