Sirianni on practice blow up: 'Did not like ball security fundamentals from offense'

Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni was caught on video yelling at his players on just the second Training Camp practice on Friday.

Sirianni explained what happened on Friday's 94WIP Midday Show after practice.

"There's things that guys know that I get fired up about," Sirianni told Hugh Douglas and Joe Giglio. "The most important fundamental you have is ball security and taking away the football, that's what changes the game the most and you can prevent that. You can be completely in control of your fundamentals of how you protect the football, how you take it away.

"But I got after the offense, I didn't like the ball security drill that we started off with. Not the drill itself, I didn't like some of the fundamentals that were going. When you are in a ball security drill, it's a controlled situation. So the fundamental of how you tuck your elbow, of how you hold the football, of how you go through traffic has to be perfect. Because when you add the variables of like, 'Alright, I don't know I'm about to get in traffic.' It has to be second nature and it wasn't exactly where I wanted it to be. That's my job to remind them. I am cheating them if I'm not reminding them. The reminding is a little different based off of the situation."

Friday was the Eagles' second training camp practice, which Sirianni said only lasted an hour instead of the allotted 75 minutes, as they were able to get through practice with a faster pace on a brutal 90-degree day.
