PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — The Eagles are dealing with their second case of COVID-19 in the past week.

The team announced on Tuesday that a staff member tested positive. This person and their close contacts went into self-isolation. Several reports say it was a coach.

Last week, the Eagles announced a player had tested positive. Then, they put safety Marcus Epps on the COVID-19 list, which is for players who either contracted the virus or were in close proximity to someone who did.

Just like last week, the Eagles say they’re following intensive protocol, which means meetings can't happen in person unless they are outdoors or in the team's "bubble."

According to the Associated Press, the Novacare Complex is still open.

In the meantime, NFL Network reported that the league approved a playoff contingency plan if regular season games with postseason implications can’t happen because of COVID-19.

If a game of this type doesn't happen, the first back-up plan is to try to make up games with an additional 18th week.

The second plan is to add one postseason team to each conference, from seven to eight — but not to re-seed based on record, which seemed like a possibility based on prior reporting.

So, if they needed to add teams, the NFC East winner would still get a home game.
