PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — The Flyers Alumni Association is working to provide specially made bicycles to local children with special needs through an initiative called Every Child Deserves a Bike.

Once a month, they will present a bike to a child with special needs.

Each bike costs between $4,000 and $6,000. The team is raising money to make this an ongoing program.

You can donate by going to the website Flyersalumni.net.

“We’ve already got the next two bikes ordered and we already have the next two recipients chosen, so we will make another bike presentation shortly in April and then another one in May, and then away we go," said Flyers Alumni Association Brad Marsh.

"The work is so gratifying when we’re going to present these bikes. It’s going to be cool.”

This initiative had its origins last year during the association’s Christmas Giving program. They worked with the Radnor-based charity Help Hope Live to present a bike to a five-year old girl in Springfield.
