PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Can the Eagles finally win a home game? Will the shorthanded Sixers continue to thrive despite missing multiple starters? How will the Flyers fare in their first divisional matchups of the season?
All that awaits you this week in Philly sports.
Philadelphia Eagles (3-5) vs. Los Angeles Chargers (4-3), Sunday at 4:05 p.m.
The Eagles finally ran the ball with consistency this past weekend in their 44-6 drubbing of the Detroit Lions. It’ll be interesting to see whether that will continue when they take on the Los Angeles Chargers.
Entering the week, the Chargers are the worst team in the NFL, in terms of defending the run.

Meanwhile, the Eagles are 0-3 so far when playing at home this season. This is the furthest they have gone into a season without winning at home since Chip Kelly’s first year as head coach in 2013. If the Eagles lose to the Chargers on Sunday, it will be the furthest they have gone in a season without winning a home game since 1983.
Yes, the Chargers will be looking to snap a two-game slide, but Eagles fans deserve to see a win at the Linc. The last time the Eagles won a game at a packed Linc — pre-pandemic — was Dec. 22, 2019.
The Sixers’ next four games
Entering Thursday night, the Sixers are on a four-game winning streak after sweeping their homestand. They did so shorthandedly for a lot of it.
Ben Simmons remains out due to personal reasons, Tobias Harris went into health and safety protocols, and Danny Green came down with left hamstring tightness.
Seth Curry has carried a lot of the weight with his 61% field goal percentage.
Georges Niang has proven to be a welcomed newcomer in his contributions off the bench, and Tyrese Maxey appears to be growing as the starting point guard with Simmons out.
Joel Embiid has performed below his standards offensively so far this season, but he had a huge block to seal the Sixers’ 103-98 win against the Bulls Wednesday night.
The 6-2 Sixers visit the lowly Pistons Thursday night, then have a rematch with the Bulls in Chicago on Saturday. After that, they host the Knicks on Monday and the defending-champion Bucks in a national TV game on Tuesday.
Flyers’ first divisional matchups
The 5-2-1 Flyers are off to a decent start this season, scoring with regularity and getting better goaltending from Carter Hart.
Starting Thursday night, the Flyers will play their first games of the season against Metropolitan Division opponents.
At 7 p.m., the Flyers visit one of their fiercest rivals, the Pittsburgh Penguins, who will be without Sidney Crosby because he tested positive for COVID-19.
On Saturday, the Flyers visit the Washington Capitals.
