PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — The Philadelphia Eagles are on their way to Brazil ahead of Friday’s first-ever regular-season NFL game in South America, and fans who can’t make the trip are finding ways to celebrate at home.
Birds fans turned out to the Comcast Center for a pep rally on Wednesday with games, giveaways and music to help kick off the Eagles’ season.
Ethan Schoenleber is thrilled to see Philadelphia represented on the international stage.
“It’s a cool honor to go out there and be the premier game of the week,” he said.
“I’m excited for Saquon [Barkley]. I want to see him represent,” said superfan Monty G. He’s also eager to watch Jalen Hurts.
“I wanna see him capitalize on the weapons that he got. I wanna see that offensive line do the real tush push or brotherly shove or whatever they call it. But I just can’t wait for Friday. I just can’t wait. I’ve been waiting.”
The Eagles-Packers game will take place in Sao Paulo, Brazil on Friday. The last time the NFL held an opening weekend game on a Friday was in 1970 when the Cardinals played the Rams.
Kickoff is at 8:15 p.m. EST. Of course, if you want to see the Eagles play in person, there is still time to get your plane tickets. At last check, a round-trip booking costs between $700 and $1,300.
