PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Could today be Pennant Day for the Phillies? They're back at Citizens Bank Park late Monday afternoon for Game Six of the National League Championship Series with the Arizona Diamondbacks. Game time is 5:07 p.m.
By 6 a.m., the ballpark was all lit up. Only the stadium crew was here at that time, but Monday night the Bank will roar to life. Once again, the Phillies have an opportunity to close out their 3-2 series with the Diamondbacks in front of a raucous hometown crowd — a crowd of fans who have over and over again rattling the opposition while giving this team a lift.
It might have been nice if the Phils had snapped up one more win in Arizona, but maybe it's just more fitting that they close out the NLCS in front of the most loyal fans in baseball and in the city they've built an unbreakable connection with.
Monday is also quite an anniversary in Phillies lore. Flash back to a year ago on this very day: Bryce Harper's home run in the NLCS created "Bedlam at the Bank."
We'll see what happens on this Oct. 23.
