PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — The Rowan University baseball team in Glassboro, New Jersey, has advanced to the NCAA Division III baseball national championship.
The Profs are one of eight teams in the field for the national championship after winning their regional and super regional. Rowan is 37-5 and riding a 14-game winning streak. They advanced to the College World Series for a second straight year and a third time since 2021.
“The last couple of weeks, we’ve really been playing well,” said head coach Mike Dickson. “We’ve been able to combine both pitching and hitting, and our defense wasn’t great in the opening game in the regional. I think we’re a little nervous because it was this team’s first time there, but we battled and we’ve been resilient the whole year.
“That’s probably the best thing I could say about this team — we’ve faced a bunch of different challenges throughout the year and we fought through them.”
The Profs are led by junior shortstop Brayden Davis, who is hitting .411 with 15 home runs and a school record 84 runs batted in. Rowan is hitting .338 as a team.
In their first game of the championship in Eastlake, Ohio, Friday evening, the Profs will take on the 37-12 Adrian College Bulldogs. The first pitch is set for 5 p.m.
