PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A Rowan University softball player etched her name in the Division III record book last week during a game in Glassboro, New Jersey.

Rowan defeated The College of New Jersey 1-0 Monday in their first game in the New Jersey Athletic Conference Tournament, which lasted 20 innings.

Rowan sophomore Emily McCutcheon went the distance on the mound for the Profs, setting a Division III record for most innings pitched in a game.

“It was cool in the moment to know that we have played, like, I had pitched the longest in D3 history. But just knowing that and having my team and knowing that they could go 20 innings, was just unbelievable,” she said.

McCutcheon, a lefthander from Mount Ephraim who went to Audubon High School, allowed 11 hits and five walks while striking out six.

Recovery was top of the mind after throwing 230 pitches that day.

“Yeah, we definitely took it a lot slower the next couple of days and took a few days off after that. But now we're back to normal,” she said.

McCutcheon has a 19-1 record this season and a 0.95 ERA.
