PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — The Saint Joseph’s University field hockey team is in the middle of a magical season.
The Hawks are 13-2 this season, and this week, they are ranked fifth in the country — the highest ranking in program history and the highest ranking for any Saint Joseph’s program since men’s basketball during the 2003-04 season.
“The one thing that we’ve really been focused on is truly taking it game to game and not looking ahead,” head coach Hannah Prince said of the team’s success. “That really allows us to look at what we need to do each game to be successful, and then how we can exploit our opponents each game.
“That sort of mentality of making sure those two things are taken care of has really helped with our success.”
The Hawks are one of the best-attacking teams in the country as they lead Division I in goals, assists and points per game.
Saint Joseph’s returns to action Friday with a road Atlantic 10 matchup against Saint Louis.
