PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Sister Catherine Masino is not only the principal of St. Cecilia School in Fox Chase, she's also a longtime, loyal Philadelphia sports fan.

"I'm a fan for all my life," Sister Catherine said. "For as long as I can remember."

As a kid, Sister Catherine said she didn't have cable and had to find unique ways to tune into games — like a TV truck and the radio. Her dedication ran deep. And, now, as a principal, she has carried that fandom over to her school, where she and St. Cecilia students celebrate Philadelphia sports, and sports in general, through prayer and lessons.

During the Eagles' run to winning Super Bowl LIX, Sister Catherine said they would pray the Friday before playoff games "that they do their best, and we know the rest."

But her support doesn't end with the Birds.

Over the years, St. Cecilia has organized group outings to Phillies games that bring in hundreds of people. And in 2023, she threw the ceremonial first pitch. She says she is optimistic about the 2025 season and thinks switching up the lineup might be a great thing.

Sister Catherine was nominated for KYW's Philly Sports Fan of the Week by Father Chris Walsh of St. Cecilia's Church. To hear more about her story, check out this week's edition in the player below:
