A source confirmed the reporting of ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski that the Philadelphia 76ers agreed to a three-year, $15 million contact with Furkan Korkmaz, as well as a one-year-deal with Andre Drummond.
Korkmaz was a late first round pick of the Sixers in 2016 and made his NBA debut in the 2017-18 season.
At times, it seemed like the Turkish shooting guard wasn't going to cement himself into the team's rotation, but over recent seasons he has found a spot as his ability to shoot and score has made him a contributor, this while his defense has improved enough.
Korkmaz averaged 9.1 points per game in the 2020-21 season while shooting 37.5% from three-point distance, a dip in his 40.2% from 2019-20.
In the playoffs, when Danny Green -- one of the Sixers noteworthy unrestricted free agents -- was out due to injury, Korkmaz saw an uptick in minutes.
Three years ago, Joel Embiid shared a tweet about Drummond, his new teammate and someone whose mind he claimed that he partially owned in the fall of 2018 while Drummond was with the Detroit Pistons.
Since then, Drummond has spent time with the Cleveland Cavaliers and, for 21 games last year, the Los Angeles Lakers. He averaged 14.9 points and 12.0 rebounds per game in 46 games between the Cavs and Lakers.
Drummond will receive the veteran minimum salary in Philadelphia.
While Korkmaz is staying, backup center Dwight Howard is reportedly heading back to the Los Angeles Lakers, the team he was with before his one season in Philadelphia.
In Embiid's career, Howard proved to be the most reliable backup center. The 35-year-old -- a future Hall of Famer -- provided a lot of energy, veteran leadership and rebounding.
He was also a technical foul waiting to happen, and didn't contribute much on the court in the second round loss to the Hawks.
It will still be interesting to see how the Sixers replace him. He had a noteworthy role on last season's team.
Veteran guard George Hill is also reportedly going to be waived, as reported by the Athletic's Shams Charania overnight.
President of Basketball Operations Daryl Morey traded for Hill prior to last season's deadline, and some would argue it didn't work out.
Hill was coming back from a thumb injury and was rather underwhelming when the games mattered most. One of the reasons the Hawks beat the Sixers was that their veteran bench stepped up.
According to Spotrac, as noted by NBC Sports Philadelphia's Noah Levick, Hill's 2021 salary of just over $10 million would become fully guaranteed today.
And last, but certainly not least, on the first day of free agency -- Philadelphia native Kyle Lowry, who the Sixers have been attached to in the past, will not be coming home. Instead, he'll be going from the Toronto Raptors to the Miami Heat.
