3 hurt in early-morning house fire in Northeast Philly, officials say

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A home in the Somerton section of Northeast Philly caught fire early Thursday, leaving at least three people injured, fire officials said.

The blaze broke out shortly after 12:30 a.m. on Nandina Way, a couple blocks from the Philmont train station.

Officials said the fire was under control after about an hour.

Fire officials initially did not say how many people were injured, but NBC10 reported seeing one person taken from the burning duplex on a stretcher. In an afternoon update, officials said a total of three people were hospitalized as a result of the fire.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
