15-year-old girl injured after 2 gunmen open fire on car in South Philly

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A 15-year-old girl was hurt after two men fired about 50 gunshots at a car in South Philadelphia on Thursday night, according to Philadelphia police.

There were two women and two girls inside the car, including a 10-year-old, and Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small says they were "very, very lucky."

It happened on Kater Street near 11th Street around 5 p.m., when many families were just sitting down for Thanksgiving dinner.

Small says two gunmen approached the car, while it was pulling out of a driveway and fired away. The 15-year-old passenger was struck in the shoulder, but no one else was hurt.

"At least 15 of those shots struck that vehicle, and the 15-year-old was only hit," Small said. She is in stable condition.

Two men wearing all black clothing and masks were seen running towards 12th Street. No arrests have been made and no weapons were recovered. Police believe the car may have been targeted.
