PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A 15-year-old Mayfair boy is in critical but stable condition after being shot twice near his home late this afternoon. Police are looking for at least one suspect.

Chief Inspector Scott Small said a 15-year-old boy was shot twice shortly after 5pm near Battersby and Nesper streets - not too far away from Lincoln High School.

"So he is suffering from two gunshot wounds, one to the abdomen. one to the shoulder. Where we found him we also found 11 spent shell casings, so we know 11 shots were fired from a semi-automatic weapon or semi-automatic weapons. We are not certain how many at this time,” Small said.

The chief inspector said the shooter or shooters were standing very close to the victim when shots were fired.

He said one suspect was wearing dark clothing and a full face mask.

The motive is not known. Detectives are examining home security cameras in the neighborhood.

Officials said the victim is expected to survive.
