19-year-old killed in overnight Cobbs Creek shooting

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A 19-year-old man is a dead after an early Saturday shooting in the Cobbs Creek section of Philadelphia.

Police said it happened around 12:30 a.m., near 59th Street and Osage Avenue. Upon arriving on the scene, authorities found the man shot once in the head.


The victim was taken to Penn Presbyterian Hospital, where he was pronounced dead just before 1 a.m.

This was one of three violent incidents in the city overnight. Another 19-year-old was shot in the leg in North Philadelphia just after 3:30 a.m., near 15th Street and Lehigh Avenue. He was taken to Temple University Hospital and placed in stable condition. However, police arrested the victim on an outstanding, unconnected warrant.

Hours earlier, around 11:30 p.m. Friday, a 25-year-old man was stabbed near Beyer Avenue and Masland Street in Northeast Philadelphia. He was taken by medics to Jefferson-Torresdale Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition.

All three incidents are currently under investigation, though according to police, no other arrests have been made.
