PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Police say two men were found shot to death and zip-tied on the ground near Pennypack Park early Saturday morning.
Police say the girlfriend of one of the victims brought the men to the intersection of Solly and Enfield avenues around 4 a.m. Why she brought them there is not clear, but she told police the men got into someone’s green or teal minivan without her. Then, she heard gunfire. The men were each shot in the head once, their hands tied behind their backs.
Philadelphia Police Captain Shaun Butts says the suspects then turned the gun on the girlfriend.
“The individuals from that vehicle asked her, ‘Where was the bag?’ After pointing their gun at her. She didn’t know. The individuals got in the van and pulled off,” he said.
Police found a cell phone that belonged to one of the victims a block away, but no ballistic evidence was discovered at the scene.
One of the victims has been identified as a 35-year-old from New Jersey. The other man’s identity has not yet been released.
Investigators are working to determine a motive.
