PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Philadelphia police are searching for two suspects who shot an Uber driver earlier this summer as she waited to pick up a rider in Fairmount.
Around 12:30 a.m. on June 20, a 38-year-old Uber driver was parked with her car flashers on by Poplar Street near 28th Street.
Video obtained by police shows two men in hoodies — one with a multi-colored backpack and a mask — walking along the sidewalk when one of the men splinters off into the street.
They can be seen walking at about the same pace toward the Uber before they approached the driver and shot her in the shoulder through the window. They then ran off.
The 38-year-old mother then drove off and called for help. She is expected to physically recover.
A GoFundMe has been set up to help with medical expenses. On the GoFundMe page, it states that the bullet is still in her body, as doctors determined it was safer to leave it in place. The page also said she suffered fractured ribs, a fractured shoulder blade and a collapsed lung that required emergency chest tubes.
