NEW JERSEY (KYW Newsradio) — More than 200 people recently graduated from a medical assistant training program in New Jersey and are ready to enter the workforce.

Kimberly Rommen is president of the American Training Center in Cherry Hill. She says through the program, people learn clinical and administrative skills “that allow them to get national certifications that translate quickly and easily into the workplace.”

Rommen says there are so many avenues for them to take now and graduates can focus on what they like best.

“Sometimes people get into a role and think, ‘I don’t like the hands-on as much. I love being in front of the computer.’ And so you think of all the billing and coding that has to take place.”

Medical assistants are usually the first person a patient meets at doctor visits and Rommen says it is encouraging to see that interest in this career path is strong.
