PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Ballots are still being counted in Pennsylvania. While the commonwealth’s 19 electoral votes were called in favor of former president — and now president-elect — Donald Trump, the U.S. Senate race is still too close to call.

As of about 7:30 a.m., 97% of the vote has been counted in Pennsylvania. Republican Dave McCormick has a 49%-to-48% lead over incumbent Democrat Bob Casey for the U.S. Senate race in the state. McCormick had a 53,700-vote advantage as of Wednesday morning.

In Philadelphia, where 98% of ballots have been counted, Trump received just over 20% of the vote. Vice President Kamala Harris received 78% of the vote — down by 3% compared to President Joe Biden in 2020.

Trump received at least 4,000 more Philly votes this time around than in his 2020 reelection bid.

So far, turnout in Philadelphia was reported at 60.5%, or about 677,000 ballots cast. In the 2020 election, turnout was 66% — about 749,000 ballots.

City Commissioner Chair Omar Sabir said they expect about 700,000 ballots to be processed in all.

The Philadelphia City Commissioners emphasized on Tuesday that the election was safe and secure, despite Trump’s social media claim that there was “massive CHEATING in Philadelphia. Law enforcement coming!!!”

The City Commissioners, including Republican Commissioner Seth Bluestein, said there was no truth to that claim.
