PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Friday, June 4, is National Gun Violence Awareness Day — and Philadelphia continues to see a surge in shootings and killings.
The latest victim is a 23-year-old man — shot and killed on Reese Street near York Street, in the Fairhill neighborhood — just after 10:30 Friday morning. He is the 222nd homicide victim of this year.
That figure is the highest recorded in the city's history for this time of year.
