PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Authorities are investigating the shooting deaths of two men in Southwest Philadelphia that occurred within about 15 minutes of each other and a couple miles apart.
The first happened along Springfield Avenue near Paxon Street, not far from the Kingsessing Recreation Center. A 35-year-old was shot in his neck and body around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday. He was taken to the hospital, where he later died.
The second happened in the same police district — 12th — about 15 minutes later, at 72nd Street and Elmwood Avenue. A 27-year-old was shot several times in his midsection and was declared dead at the scene.
So far, there is no obvious connection between the two killings. Homicide detectives are continuing to investigate.
