3 charged in connection with 2016 fatal shooting of man in Hamilton Mall parking lot

NEW JERSEY (KYW Newsradio) — Three people have been charged in connection with the shooting death of a man nearly eight years ago.

According to the Atlantic County Prosecutors Office, it was around 1 a.m. on Black Friday, Nov. 25, 2016, when Demond Cottman and his brother were shot in the Hamilton Mall parking lot.

Police say Cottman died at the scene.

After a lengthy investigation, officials identified Steven Martinez, 30, Timothy Davis, 27, and Malik Boone, 30, all from Egg Harbor City, as the suspects.
They were charged on Aug. 7, 2024, with murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and weapons offenses. Martinez and Davis are in jail; Boone is at-large.
