PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Three of suspects accused in the fatal September shooting outside of Roxborough High School are being charged with another murder that happened the day before — in a possible case of mistaken identity. And they may be connected to the shooting of an 8-year-old child around the same time.
Zyheid Jones, Troy Fletcher and Dayton Burney-Thorne face murder charges for the shooting death of 19-year-old Tahmir Jones on Sept. 26 — the day before the Roxborough shooting.
The next day, Sept. 27, Nicolas Elizade was shot and killed when he and four other teenagers were ambushed after walking off the Roxborough High School football field. Sources say they believe the shooting may have been retaliatory.
Zyheid Jones, Fletcher and Burney-Thorne are also under investigation for the shooting of an 8-year-old child, who was grazed in the head a few days before — also on 13th Street — near Temple University.
Zyheid Jones and Fletcher are already in custody, but Burney-Thorne is still on the run, possibly in Georgia.
