PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — The Delaware River Bridge is set for a massive upgrade.
The U.S. Department of Transportation is providing $600 million in federal funding to replace the bridge connecting Bucks and Burlington Counties along the Pennsylvania Turnpike.
Pennsylvania Senators John Fetterman and Dave McCormick made the announcement Saturday night, calling this "one of the most consequential infrastructure commitments in Pennsylvania’s history."
The project will widen the bridge and address critical infrastructure risks.
There is no timetable for the start of construction. The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission says analysis and design planning for the new bridge will “continue through 2027”.
