CAMDEN, N.J. (KYW Newsradio) — Employees of the Philadelphia 76ers organization gave a big assist Wednesday, as they pitched in to help clean up the city's Parkside neighborhood.
With a shovel in hand, Sixers mascot Franklin glided around Farnham Park on his hoverboard as volunteers from the team's corporate office fanned out to nearby streets.
CEO Tad Brown says it’s important to show up for their neighbors.
“Being a part of this community and making sure that our people feel us, they see us, they know that we’re here to help them. They know that we’re here to make a difference in their lives.”
Mayor Vic Carstarphen says they have done many other cleanups like this, and there’s a noticeable difference in the pride people have in their communities when a partner like the Sixers steps up to help.
“We’ve come back to certain areas and we see a change. You see the change of how the community just looks a lot cleaner because people are taking pride and they’re seeing us walk the walk.”
