
PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — An elderly man viscously attacked in his Hunting Park home on New Year's Eve has died from his injuries.
The family of 83-year-old Mauricio Gesmundo Sr. found him bound, duct-taped and bleeding inside his Fairhill Street home, near Fifth and Luzerne streets. Two safes were stolen from the house.
Gesmundo Sr. was retired and living with his daughter and son-in-law, who found him when they returned home around 3 a.m. New Year’s Day.
He had been unconscious at the hospital since.
His family confirmed his death to KYW Newsradio Monday night.
The family is begging for answers. Anyone with information is urged to call the police.
