PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A medical assistant, who police say posed as a nurse at an Abington urgent care clinic, is behind bars, accused of assaulting one woman and invading the privacy of another. Officials are investigating if there are more victims.

Ramon Garcia of Philadelphia is accused of impersonating a licensed nurse at a Carbon Health Urgent Care in Abington Township.

"He was hired as a medical assistant and his responsibilities were to check people in, get their vital signs, height, weight, blood pressure," said Abington Township Police Department Lt. Steve Fink.

One woman complained Garcia, who was employed as a medical assistant at the facility, watched her as she gave a urine sample. Another woman claimed Garcia inappropriately touched her during an exam.

Fink says Garcia was hired by Carbon Health Systems in July of last year and worked at three of its locations since that time: in Drescher, Montgomeryville and in Jenkintown.

Garcia remains in custody. His cash bail was set at $99,000.

"We are very concerned that there are additional victims out there," said Fink.

Officials are asking anyone who had a negative encounter with Garcia to contact detectives at the Abington Police Department at 267-536-1102.

"I know it takes courage but we are asking those women to step forward. This is a sick individual who is preying upon these women. There should be no shame and our detectives are specially trained to deal with special victims of this type."
