PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Former City Controller Alan Butkovitz has become one of Philadelphia’s latest carjacking victims.
It happened around 8 p.m. in Northeast Philadelphia, NBC10 reported.
A man in a mask pointed a gun at Butkovitz as he pulled up to his home and demanded that he get out of his car.
The 70-year-old was not hurt.
Police are still looking for the car and the gunman.
Last year, there were more than 1,300 carjackings across the city. In response, the Philadelphia Police Department formed a new Carjacking Enforcement Unit.
Butkovitz served as controller from 2006 to 2018. He also served as a state representative of Northeast Philly from 1991 to 2005.
He is currently the Democratic leader of the 54th Ward.
