PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — At least two people were injured after a crash in Upper Dublin Township on Wednesday morning.
Officials say a Second Alarmers ambulance was carrying a patient from Whitpain Township to Abington Hospital when it collided with a Toyota around 4:30 a.m. at the intersection of Susquehanna and Fitzwatertown roads.
The ambulance landed on the front lawn of a home, while the smashed-up Toyota completely hopped the curb and ended up on the grass. Emergency crews rushed to the scene and had to slice open the wreckage of the Toyota to get the driver out. That person and the patient were taken to the hospital and listed in stable condition. The ambulance crew was not hurt.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
Mike, who woke up to see the ambulance and car on his lawn, isn’t sure what happened, but says he’s had to deal with several crashes throughout the years that have damaged his property.
“This is a bad corner. It’s a very bad corner. If I would have known, I wouldn’t have bought this house. But I’m 77 and won’t be moving, so whatever,” Mike said.
“People here speed all the time. They race all the time. What I wanted to do was get some kind of barriers, at least to protect my house and cars.”
