BRIDESBURG (KYW Newsradio) — Philadelphia police are looking for a man they said robbed a storage facility in Bridesburg Monday night, then shot the manager.
Authorities said it happened around 7 p.m. at Good Deal Self Storage on Eadom Street near Bridge Street. The scene was close to the Bridesburg Regional Rail stop on SEPTA's Trenton line.
Chief Inspector Scott Small said the manager was helping a customer when he was shot.
"The perpetrator entered the business through the front door, forced the manager and customer behind the counter — made them get on their knees — and the perpetrator then reached into the cash register and did take an unknown amount of money," he said.
After the man robbed the till, Small said he shot four times at the manager, striking him twice — in the shoulder and chest.
"However, he was conscious, walking and talking, but he was bleeding heavily," said Small.
Police took him to the hospital, and he's in critical condition.
The customer was not injured.
Investigators said the suspect left on a mini bike. He was last seen wearing a green ski mask, a grey sweatshirt under a black hooded jacket, blue jeans and black Jordan sneakers.
