PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — You might get a chance to implode one of President Donald Trump's former casinos for the right amount of money. All you have to do is place the right bid.
Atlantic City Mayor Marty Small Sr. said they have started some demolition work already, and now, "the building is almost a shell."
The Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino has been empty and falling apart for about six years. Opened back in 1984, Trump's former casino was closed in 2014, falling into a state of disrepair. It's now owned by billionaire investor Carl Icahn.
Now, the city is giving the public a chance to bring the remainder of this building down by placing a bid in an auction to press the implosion button remotely. Proceeds will go to the Boys and Girls Club of Atlantic City.
"We will help Carl Icahn's group to develop something special there,” Small Sr. said.
The mayor hopes the auction raises more than $1 million.
The implosion will take place sometime in February.
