PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — If you see a trio of men who are painted blue, playing the drums and doing tricks, don't panic. It's just the Blue Man Group making their way to Philadelphia for the first time in almost a decade.
They will be performing at the Miller Theater, presented by the Kimmel Cultural Campus and The Shubert Organization, from Dec. 27 to 31.
The group debuted at New York's Astor Place Theatre in 1991 and became a smash hit. Since then, the show has toured worldwide, contributed to film and TV scores, and even produced a Grammy-nominated album, titled "Audio."
Now, they are taking things in a different direction with their latest tour.
"It's fresh, which is actually my favorite thing about this experience on this national tour," said Mike Brown, who has been performing as a Blue Man for 20 years.
Brown said the audience should be prepared for just about anything: "Going out into the audience, bringing people up on stage, creating music with them, creating a meal with them."
