PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — The New Jersey Attorney General’s Office has released body cam footage of the June shooting that left two Atlantic City police officers injured and the gunman dead.
The videos show two officers being shot and a third firing at the gunman, 52-year-old Donald Gardner.
Authorities said police were executing a search warrant at a home at Florida and Arctic avenues.
When officers arrived, someone inside the home closed the door. Officers then used a mechanical device to pry it open, and they were immediately fired upon from inside the home, video shows. Police returned fire, killing Gardner.
The body cam footage was released as part of the New Jersey Attorney General’s Office ongoing investigation of the officer-involved shooting. The findings will eventually be presented to a grand jury, as required by law.
