CAMDEN, N.J. (KYW Newsradio) — A Bucks County man has admitted to a federal judge that he detonated an explosive device under his former boss’s car in South Jersey last year.
Michael Takacs, 44, of Warminster, pleaded guilty in Camden on Tuesday to transporting an explosive charge and could spend a decade in prison.
Prosecutors said Takacs was fired last spring, after which he built a homemade explosive device filled with nails and other shrapnel. On July 26, authorities said he drove to his former boss's home in Delran and placed the device under his Ford Explorer. He then hid nearby to denonate it using a remote.
According to prosecutors, Takacs was successful, but no one was injured. He is said to have wanted only to intimidate his former boss.
Sentencing is scheduled for Oct. 8.
