PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A woman has been charged with filing a false police report about an attempted rape and kidnapping in Middletown Township last month.

In April, 41-year-old Daniel Pierson was arrested after police received a report that he tried to rape and kidnap a woman in a supermarket parking lot in the Langhorne Square Shopping Center.

The woman, later identified as 20-year-old Anjela Borisova Urumova, of Bristol Township, claimed she was grabbed from behind by a man she didn’t know when she got out of her truck and screamed and tried to break free of his grip, but he didn’t let go and pulled down her pants.

The man, who she identified as Pierson at the time, allegedly then punched her in the face, causing swelling and bruising, and tried to carry her to his truck.

Charges against Daniel Pierson were dropped last week after his accuser, Anjela Borisova Urumova of Bristol Township, admitted to lying to police and filing a false report.

Authorities say shortly after Pierson’s arrest, the Bucks County District Attorney's Office and Middletown Township Police Department “received information that warranted further investigation.”

They then collected and reviewed surveillance footage from stores in that area and did a forensic review of Urumova’s cellphone data, where they found multiple inconsistencies and contradictory information with her story from the night of the alleged attack.

Detectives confronted her of their findings on Friday and she admitted to lying about the whole thing. Pierson was released that same day and his charges were withdrawn.

Officials say Urumova falsely reported the attack and specifically targeted Pierson.

She said she gave a description of Pierson’s truck and identified him because she had seen him in the car before.

Urumova is charged with false alarm to an agency of public safety and tampering with or fabricating physical evidence, two counts of making false reports, and three counts of making unsworn falsification to authorities.
