PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A Bucks County man has been charged in connection to the death of his elderly mother in their Northampton Township apartment. According to court documents, police in Washington D.C. contacted Northampton Township police after the man allegedly told several officers he killed her.

Bucks County District Attorney Jen Schorn says the body of 82-year-old Dolores Ingram was discovered on Sunday in the living room of her condo on Beacon Hill Drive in Holland, Bucks County. She was found under a pile of household items, including a TV, a couch, books, a significant amount of marijuana and a bag containing $50,000 cash.

“Included in the items stacked on top of the victim was a carpet, a large geode-type rock that weighed 60 pounds [and] an aquarium that was shattered that contained two reptile lizards,” Schorn described. “The lizards were found deceased on the floor. All of the items were stacked on top of the victim's head and chest.”

Northampton Township police were asked to check on the home on Sunday afternoon. A Washington D.C. police officer called Bucks County authorities, saying Ingram’s son, 49-year-old William, was arrested for smashing a police car window with a skateboard while naked, then assaulting a police officer.

“During the course of the encounter with law enforcement in the District of Columbia, he admitted to several officers that he killed his mother,” Schorn said.

As detailed in the criminal complaint, when William was asked if he had an emergency contact, he said, “Not anymore.” When asked about an injury to his face, the complaint quotes him as saying, “I think my mom hit me and I freaked out.”

William is charged with homicide, drug dealing, cruelty to animals, and the theft of his mother’s car, which police say he drove to Washington, D.C. Authorities are still looking for that car, and ask anyone who may have had contact with Ingram on June 15 or 16 to contact police.
