DOYLESTOWN, Pa. (KYW Newsradio) — A 25-year-old Churchville man will spend the rest of his life in prison for the stabbing death of his ex-girlfriend.

Bucks County Judge Charissa Liller called the actions of Trevor Weigel on Feb. 16, 2024 “tragic, brutal and horrific,” as she sentenced Weigel to life in prison for breaking into the Yardley home of his 19-year-old ex-girlfriend Jaden Battista, dragging her outside and stabbing her 14 times.

“This was a horrific case,” said prosecutor A.J. Garabedian. “It was a young woman who did not deserve to die, who had her whole life ahead of her, and it was tragic, not only for her, but her family, the police officers that had to respond and observed what happened.”

Battista was on the phone with a friend when Weigel showed up at her house, started banging on the door, then climbed through a window. The friend called 911 and police arrived to see Weigel chasing, tackling, then stabbing Battista. As he tried to run from police, he stabbed himself in the neck.

Battista is remembered as loving, compassionate, and a role model to her younger sisters.

Weigel told the court he was sorry for his actions and that not a day went by when he didn’t wish he could trade places with Battista.

However, Liller didn’t buy his remorse. She pointed to his testimony at trial, calling it “appalling” that he took the stand and tried to blame his actions on the victim.
