Burlington County begins sending out mail-in ballots

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Officials in Burlington County, New Jersey have started sending out mail-in ballots. In addition, they are implementing new safeguards against printing mistakes and sorting errors.

The county printed more than 315,000 mail-in ballots for the November 3 election.

"Everyone who is a registered voter in Burlington County will get a mail-in ballot," said George Kotch, elections superintendent and commissioner of registration for Burlington County.

Kotch advised voters not to be surprised by the amount of paper included with their mail-in ballots. It's for security purposes.

"There's actually two envelopes before you get to the ballot," he said.

There are multiple ways to cast your vote. You can mail in your ballot that's secured in a double envelope, or take it to a drop box.

"They're secured 24 hours by cameras, lights," said Kotch of the drop boxes. "Quite a few of them are located by police stations."

He added you can also take the ballot to a polling place.

"The individual must bring the outer envelope also, otherwise they are going to be turned down, and they'll have to go home and get the envelope," he explained.

Questions and concerns about voting in Burlington County should be directed to the county clerk's office.
