EVESHAM, NEW JERSEY (KYW Newsradio) — A Burlington County man was convicted of killing his friend and the friend's dog during a robbery last year.

A jury returned a guilty verdict Friday for 26-year-old Donovan Hollingsworth of Evesham Township. They say he stabbed his friend, 26-year-old Thomas Pierson III, during a planned robbery at Olympus Apartments in Evesham in February 2022.

Authorities say an altercation occurred between the two and Hollingsworth stabbed Pierson multiple times then stabbed the dog named Django. Both were found dead at the scene.

Hollingsworth was taken into custody at the hospital when he sought treatment for injuries suffered in the fight.

In February, he was charged with first-degree murder and two counts of possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.

Hollingsworth is being held in the Burlington County jail and a sentencing hearing is scheduled for Oct. 27.
