PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — One of the Camden County Prosecutor's Office most wanted fugitives is back in New Jersey after U.S. Marshals apprehended him in Mexico.

In May 2019, officials charged Brian J. Rivers, 42, of Gloucester Township with first-degree aggravated sexual assault and a dozen other offenses for crimes they say he committed against a child between 2012 and 2018.

For nearly six years, Rivers evaded arrest—until a U.S. Marshals investigation found him in Mexico.

Marshals worked in collaboration with Mexican authorities to take Rivers into custody in Puebla, about 80 miles southeast of Mexico City, on Feb. 11. The next day, Rivers was extradited back to New Jersey.

He has a detention hearing scheduled for Friday at the Camden County Hall of Justice.
