CAMDEN, N.J. (KYW Newsradio) — The head of the Parking Authority of the City of Camden has been charged in a domestic violence case.

Camden County police say the executive director of the parking authority, Willie Hunter, 56, is charged with strangling a woman with a belt after an argument over ending their relationship.

According to court documents, it happened Nov. 29 in Camden's Stockton neighborhood after the victim asked Hunter to leave her house. That's when he became irate and grabbed her by both arms and threw her into a wall, causing her to bruise her hip.

Then, according to the affidavit, he wrapped a belt around her neck and said, "You're going to make me kill you."

The victim said she suffered discomfort and pain in her throat after the incident. Hunter was arrested on charges including aggravated assault by strangulation. The politically active Democrat has led PACC since 2012.

His attorney, Timothy Farrow, declined to comment on the case. The next court date is a pre-trial conference set for Feb. 26.
